UCO Bank seeks Rs.800 cr from Centre

UCO Bank has sought Rs.800 cr capital from the centre to prevent capital adequacy ratio going below 8%.

The Finance Minister has assured that it would not allow the bank's Tier- I capital to go below 8%. The government has planned to infuse Rs.15,000 crore in public sector banks as recapitalisation support.

Captal Adequacy Ratio(CAR) or Capital to Risk-weighted Asset Ratio (CRAR)

CAR is a measure of the amount of a banks core capital expressed as a percentage of its risk-weighted asset.
